2023 marks the 39th year of Volunteers’ Week (1-7 June), when we will be joining thousands of charities and voluntary organisations to recognise the contribution volunteers make across the UK. With this year’s theme of ‘Celebrate and Inspire’ we hope to encourage people to be the change that we want to see and get involved in volunteering in whatever way works for them.
The contribution of volunteers is often unseen and unrecognised by many, visible only through the incredible impact of their volunteering, so taking the time during Volunteers’ Week to celebrate their efforts and all they contribute to our local communities, the voluntary sector and society as a whole has never been more important.
Plungington Community Centre receives 45 hours per week of voluntary support with services such as our weekly foodbank, community café and regular events.
This Volunteers’ Week we will be celebrating and giving thanks to all of the wonderful volunteers we have who help to support and provide facilities for the residents of Plungington who visit our community centre.
Plungington Community Centre Manager, Ben Clayton said: “Volunteers’ Week is a chance to celebrate and recognise the fantastic contribution our volunteers make to the people who visit the centre. The centre is a hub and a lifeline to some people and without the services of our amazing group of volunteers, we wouldn’t be able to reach and support as many people as we do. We can’t thank them enough.”
