We are really delighted that the staff from the Care Team at HASSRA (Health and Social Security Recreation Association) in Preston have chosen to raise money in support the wonderful work of Caritas Care’s FX project.
Their amazing fundraising efforts have raised a staggering £2544.05. In 2017, Caritas Care were chosen as HASSRA’s charity of the year and the team were so impressed and blown away at the work and support the FX Project gives to people with profound Learning Disabilities, that some of the team decided they want to continue to support us. The HASSRA committee choose a new Charity each year and the FX project has been fortunate enough to have been chosen in 2016 and 2017, for which we are extremely grateful.
The fundraising work was done solely by the HASSRA committee members and included pancake and cake bakes and sales of football cards to name a few. At key times of year such as Christmas, Summer time and Easter the team put on events and had quizzes with lots of raffles to help raise money.
Martin Layton, Learning Disabilities Service Manager attended a presentation at HASSRA’s offices in Preston on Friday 20 July along with some of the young people who attend the FX day service.
Martin said “We were thrilled to have been invited with our young people to receive this donation. It is absolutely fantastic and most rewarding to see how the work we do at FX has touched this team. We really value their support and their recognition of our work.”
“Donations such as these go towards helping us to provide exciting and life enhancing opportunities as well as making fond and special memories for our young people and their families.”
Martin Heneghan, Learning Disabilities Service Manager overseeing the FX Project said, “We are extremely grateful for this very generous donation as it gives us the chance to think outside of the daily routine, to go further afield and make a real difference. On behalf off all the staff at FX and the people who use the project…THANKYOU!”
