Vision in People (VIP) Support Worker, Joan Jackson, has recently been Highly Commended for Rock FM’s Time to Shine ‘Local Hero’ award.
Joan, who was nominated for this award by her daughter, a Scout Leader for Leyland St Ambrose group, has been a Beaver and Scout Leader for 31 years and is the longest serving leader in the area. This is a massive achievement as the average length of time is just 18 months!
Joan is thrilled to have been recognised for the work she has given to the group. She said, ‘I am absolutely delighted to be Highly Commended in this category. I love to see the children enjoying themselves, learning new skills and having the opportunities to do things they may not otherwise have the chance to do. It’s a huge privilege to work with children to watch them grow and flourish. Thank you to my daughter and fellow scout leader for nominating me.’
Joan not only enjoys working with and supporting children, she is also a valued member or Caritas Care’s VIP service, a day care provision for people with learning disabilities. Her Manager, Moira Clayton said ‘We are so pleased for Joan receiving this commendation. She thoroughly deserves this recognition for the work she does to support and engage children in her spare time.’
Congratulations Joan, long may your good work continue!
