Currently there are 2,800 children under the age of 5 waiting in the UK for their adoptive family and sadly 41% of these children have been waiting for over 18 months.
18 months in a child’s life is such a long time, during which they are learning to walk, talk, play, socialise and are developing skills that will enable them to build secure relationships, the list is endless. All children deserve the opportunity to feel valued and supported, where they can grow up in a secure, stable and loving environment to enable them to reach their full potential.
Caritas Care want to reduce the time that children are waiting for adoption by finding people, like you, to offer them a family they can call their own from now until…forever!
We are keen to speak to families/individuals who would consider adoption particularly for:
- Babies and young children aged 0 – 4 years
- Children who are over 5 years
- Sibling Groups
- Children with additional needs, such as a disability or educational needs
- Black and Ethnic Minorities
Lots of people think they can’t adopt for different reasons, many are common misconceptions. The good news is…you can! People who adopt can be:
- Single, married or unmarried
- From any ethnic or religious background
- Heterosexual, lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender
- A homeowner or living in rented accommodation
- Employed or on benefits
- Those who have children or who have none
- People thinking of adopting for a second time
Susan Swarbrick, Chief Executive Office at Caritas Care, said: “Finding families for some of the most vulnerable children is at the heart of what we do at Caritas Care, it’s what drives us. I urge anyone who has been thinking about adoption to get in touch and ‘rule yourself in’. Take that first step and contact our team for a chat – all sorts of people make great adopters!”
We have put together a whole list of questions so you can ‘Rule Yourself In’ to becoming an adopter with Caritas Care in 2020, you can find these here
